Slopees were born from the simple desire to keep little feet warm and dry without sacrificing a minute of family fun.
The Cold Feet Problem
Every ski parent has experienced the moment when tiny frozen feet lead to whining that wont quit. In fact, cold and wet feet end more more ski days early than bad weather itself. So we thought, if we could keep tiny toes warmer, we could also keep the fun ski days going on longer.
The Aha Moment
The "Aha" moment came when bought a last minute boot cover from the ski-shop. Not only was it barely functional, but it was downright ugly. Surely there had to be something better, but when we couldn’t find it, we knew we had to make it ourselves.
Bringing It To Life at FIT
Did we mention we had no design or manufacturing experience? But what we did have was a strong idea and a partnership with The Fashion Institute of Technology’s Innovation Hub. Together we brought our humble napkin drawing to life.
About Us
Hi, we’re Mary and Seh, longtime friends that have survived demanding careers, children, husbands, and endless family ski trips. But what we barely survived were our kids complaining of frozen toes and wanting to leave the
mountain at the first sign of discomfort. So we did what all moms would do; we bought boot covers. But they were bulky, poorly made and annoying to wrestle on our squirmy little snow bunnies. Oh yeah, and they were ugly. Like “Mom, these are embarrassing, ugly.” So we searched for better options, but when we couldn’t find what we were looking for, we did something crazy; we made them ourselves, and we made them look good, too. Slopees were born on a chairlift by two moms who just wanted a few hours of complaint-free skiing. We hope you and your kids
love them as much as our friends and families do.
Seh Norris, Co-Founder
Seh is a program manger at a major bank, but her real obsession is turning day dreams into physical products. With no design background to speak of, she taught herself to sew, draft patterns and make prototypes. Months later with actual Slopees in hand she beta tested them with kids until she got the final seal of approval. Seh calls Brooklyn home, but Mt. Snow, Vermont will always be her home hill. You can find her there alongside her husband and two kids.
Mary Corsi, Co-Founder
Mary’s day job is solving big complicated problems as a Benefits Strategist for major companies and health care organizations. Off the clock, she’s married to her fun-loving, ski-obsessed husband and is the mom to four kids who skied
almost as soon as they could walk. She even loves the weekly four hour drive from Brooklyn to her home hill in Okemo, Vermont.
